How much should a small business website cost in India?

How much should a small business website cost in India? Ask three web designers for a quote and you'll probably get three very different numbers, anywhere from ₹5,000 to ₹5,00,000. That's not because someone's trying to rip you off (though sometimes that's exactly what's happening). It's because "a website" can mean a lot of different things. A five page site that tells people what you do is a completely different job from a site that takes orders, tracks stock, and pings you on WhatsApp every time someone buys something. Here's a simple way to figure out what you actually need, and what it should cost you. Figure out what the site needs to do before you worry about how it looks Most business owners come to us worried about design first: colors, logos, "making it look professional." Design matters, but it's usually not where the cost difference comes from. The real question is whether the site just needs to exist, or whether it needs to actually run part of your business. A site that just needs to exist usually includes: About 5 pages: home, about, services, pricing, contact A simple way for people to reach you, like a WhatsApp button, contact form, or phone number Fast loading and easy to read on a phone, since that's how most people will find you A site that runs part of your business adds things like: Capturing leads automatically and following up with them, instead of you checking WhatsApp all day A basic dashboard showing what's selling, what's running low, or how many people inquired this week Several moving parts talking to each other, like bookings syncing with a calendar or orders syncing with inventory That gap, between a site that exists and a site that works for you, is where most of the price difference comes from. What our pricing actually looks like We keep this simple. Three tiers, and what you get at each one. ₹15,000: a clean brochure site. A proper 5 page site with WhatsApp contact built in, fast to load and built to look credible. Think of it as a good business card that lives online. It won't do anything on its own; it just needs to represent you well. This is the right fit if you're getting a real online presence for the first time. ₹30,000: a site plus one automation. Everything in the brochure tier, plus one thing that actually saves you time, usually automatic lead capture and follow up, or a simple booking flow, along with a basic dashboard so you can see what's coming in without asking. This is the right tier once you're getting enough inquiries that keeping track of them in your head (or a notebook) is starting to cost you sales. ₹60,000 and up: custom dashboards and multiple automations. This is for businesses already juggling several things at once, orders, stock, staff, follow ups, who want software built around how they actually work rather than a template they have to adapt to. It costs more because it genuinely is more work: more integrations, more testing, more back and forth to get the workflow right. If someone quotes you far below these numbers for the same kind of work, ask what's being left out. It's usually testing, revisions, or a feature that looks like it works but doesn't actually do anything. A few costs that come up either way These sit outside the build itself, no matter which tier you pick: Domain name: roughly ₹500 to ₹1,500 a year for a .com or .in Hosting: anywhere from free for a simple static site to a few hundred rupees a month depending on your traffic and features WhatsApp Business API, if you want automated messages instead of a plain click to chat link, usually comes with its own monthly cost Ongoing changes: ask upfront whether small edits later (a new price, a new photo) are included or billed separately A simple way to decide Ask yourself one question. Is your problem that you don't have a website, or that you're drowning in manual work you could automate? If it's the first, the ₹15,000 tier solves it. Don't spend on automation you don't need yet. If it's the second, the automation and dashboard tiers are where the real value is, and they're worth paying for, because they're replacing hours of your own time every week, not just adding polish. Either way, ask for a plain language breakdown of what's included before you agree to a number. A fair quote should be easy to explain, not something that only makes sense after you've already signed.
